Civil Grand Jury Recruiting for 2026-2027 Session

The Lassen County Superior Court is seeking qualified individuals who may be interested in applying for the Civil Grand Jury. The term of service is one year, beginning July 1st and continuing through June 30th of the following year.
To qualify, an applicant must be a citizen of the United States, at least 18 years of age, a resident of Lassen County, of ordinary intelligence and good character, and have a working knowledge of English.
The Civil Grand Jury is a “watchdog” that investigates the operations of the city, county government, including officers, departments, and agencies. The Civil Grand Jury has 19 members and 2 alternates who volunteer to serve for a one-year term or up to two consecutive years.
Serving on the Grand Jury does require a time commitment. Meetings are held every other week as determined by the Grand Jury members and investigations will also be determined by the Grand Jury members.
Those who have served have expressed how their service has contributed to an appreciation of the role of our local government and have a deeper understanding of how policies and planning impact our community.
If you are interested in applying for the Civil Grand Jury, please complete an online questionnaire or pick up one at the Hall of Justice at 2610 Riverside Drive in Susanville. Questionnaires must be submitted by MAY 29, 2026.
